Message from the President

A warm welcome to BSDU, one of India’s most exciting experiments in higher education, and more specifically, in the fast expanding field of skill education! Inspired by the hugely successful “Swiss Dual System” which is based on a seamless relationship between the university, industry, and a vibrant student body committed to hands-on learning, BSDU has already made its presence felt in many sectors of the Indian economy. Furthermore, over a short period of four years, the university has established itself as a bold and innovative institution pioneering the kind of skill education India’s New Education Policy has now recommended for all higher education institutions in India. In this sense, BSDU represents the cutting-edge of not just Indian, but global education.

As the newly appointed President of BSDU, I feel privileged to serve this institution at this exciting juncture in its evolution. The University is poised to expand its infrastructure exponentially, increase student numbers, and build closer ties with a wide range of industry leaders and partners who are already playing a crucial role in shaping our curricular and training architecture. As is the case with all universities, our enduring success will ultimately rest on the people who join our community, and our goal is to make BSDU the preferred destination for the best students, faculty, industry partners, recruiters, and partner organisations.

Once again, I welcome you all to explore our university, and join us as we transform the landscape of skills-based education.

Because of his growing interest in issues of financial technology and rural livelihoods, since 2017 Prof. Bhandari has been serving as chairman and independent director of the Jio Payments Bank, a joint venture of the State Bank of India and Reliance Jio.
