BSDU's B.Voc program is inspired by and aligned with the renowned vocational education models of Switzerland, which is the key factor in the economic success and low youth unemployment rates. Here's how we incorporate their best practices:

  • Swiss Dual Education System: Like the Swiss and German models, we combine classroom learning with extensive practical training in real work environments.
  • Industry Partnerships: We have strong collaborations with industry partners, similar to the apprenticeship systems in these countries, ensuring our curriculum remains relevant and up-to-date.
  • Practical Focus: Our program emphasizes hands-on skills, with about 80% of the curriculum dedicated to practical training, mirroring the approach in Swiss vocational schools.
  • Multiple Entry and Multiple exit system
  • One Student One Machine Concept

  • 1 student - 1 machine concept
(only university in north India with such a massive, hi-tech infrastructure).
  • 6 months paid internship at industry after every semester; 70% practical + 30% theory (Swiss Dual Education System).
  • A competent team of trainers and master trainers for all courses.

Lack of awareness about skill courses in public; both - Central and State Governments need to run large scale awareness campaigns to publicise skill courses.

Currently, the government intends to transform the unorganised skill sector into an organised sector by equipping the massive workforce with the required formal vocational education and training.

This has a dual-advantage: First, it will make the workforce employable. And second, it will also lend dignity to blue-coloured jobs.

That is great question arising in majority of parents. The parents are unaware of the pressure unknowingly given to children by expecting them to win in the rat race as mentioned. All children have their own potential and unique skill set which should be creatively and productively tapped. The revolutionary skill education has gained a lot of prominence for solving the problem faced by students and parents.

Parents and students are forced to follow the traditional pattern of education being unaware of the option of Vocational Education. Vocational Education has gained prominence in India now. So pursuing a bachelor's degree in Vocational Education, i.e B. Voc can be a very good option.

B.Voc (Bachelor of Vocation) is a specialized undergraduate degree that focuses on practical, industry-oriented skills alongside theoretical knowledge. Unlike traditional degrees, B.Voc programs have a higher emphasis on hands-on training, internships, and industry collaboration, preparing students for immediate employment or entrepreneurial projects.

Yes, B.Voc graduates can pursue:

  • Master's programs i.e. M. Voc in their specialized field, also offered at BSDU, and other Universities
  • MBA or other management programs
  • B. Tech (in just one year after B. voc as specified in the AICTE Handbook, Page 90) Currently Many of BSDU students are pursuing B. Tech from JNU Jaipur and few have already completed

The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 heralds the potentially explosive growth of vocational education in the country since it requires all educational institutions to integrate vocational education into their offerings.

Every child will learn at least one vocation and be exposed to several more. This would lead to emphasizing the dignity of labour and importance of various vocations involving Indian arts and artisanship. By 2025, at least 50% of learners through the school and higher education system shall have exposure to vocational education.

National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF) compliant vocational courses would now be offered to the students from class 9th to 12th in the schools. At the Secondary level i.e. Class IX and X, vocational modules would be offered to the students as an additional subject. At Sr. Secondary level, i.e. Class XI and XII, vocational courses would be offered as a compulsory (elective) subject. The State Governments have been advised that Vocational courses are to be treated at par with other academic subjects and accorded a similar status in the scheme of subjects.

This shows that the government fully realises the need for a skilled workforce to meet the future challenges and is going all out to promote skill education.

Yes, you are right. The skill education system of Switzerland is indeed considered to be the best in the world. And at BSDU, we are proud to say that we follow the best practices of Swiss system of vocational education including the Swiss pedagogy of training and teaching.

In a course of six semesters, students are sent for internship during every alternate semester. This means that a student would possess practical experience of one and half years before being placed after graduating. This work experience is highly valued by industry as they don't have to invest time and money additionally on their training.

At BSDU, a student mandatorily undergoes for 6 months of paid internship at industry after every semester; that is during a full degree course of 6 semesters, s/he spends 3 semesters at industry as an intern and 3 semesters at BSDU for studies and training.

Skill-based courses like B.Voc offer several advantages over traditional degree programs in addressing job market saturation:

  • Industry-Aligned Skills: B.Voc programs are designed in close collaboration with industry partners, ensuring that graduates possess skills that are in high demand in the current job market.
  • Practical Expertise: Unlike many traditional courses that focus heavily on theory, B.Voc emphasizes practical skills. This makes graduates job-ready from day one, reducing the need for extensive on-the-job training.
  • Specialization: B.Voc offers specialized tracks that cater to specific industry needs, allowing students to become experts in niche areas where demand often outstrips supply.

The whole nation knows about the Prime Minister's emphasis on Skill Development. In order to provide a platform for the leading Indian Higher Education Institutions to discuss, deliberate and share insights on strategies, success stories and best practices in implementing the National Education Policy, 2020, a 3- day Education Summit, Akhil Bharatiya Shiksha Samagam was organized at Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh from 7- July, 2022. It is a matter of pride that President, of BSDU represented BSDU in this mega event.

The Union Budget 2024-25 outlines an ambitious plan for education, employment and skills development aimed at stimulating economic growth and creating abundant opportunities for India's youth. The central government's clear objective is to bridge the skills gap, boost employability and ensure that the nation's young population is well-equipped for the future. The Economic Survey 2023-24 underscores the government's renewed emphasis on skilling and employment.

To meet the demands of a growing workforce, the Indian economy needs to create nearly 8 million jobs annually in the non-farm sector until 2030. However, only 4 per cent of the young workforce aged 15-29 is formally skilled, highlighting a significant need for enhanced skill development programmes. This gap underscores why many stakeholders have welcomed initiatives aimed at skilling and educating the youth to enhance their employability. Despite this enthusiasm, a detailed review of the fiscal allocations for these proposed schemes reveals a more nuanced situation, as highlighted by various experts.

In her seventh consecutive Budget speech, the finance minister announced that the Budget would prioritise employment, skilling, micro, small and medium enterprises, and the middle class. Among the nine stated priorities, employment and skilling are ranked second. Aligning with the Budget’s theme, the finance minister introduced five schemes—referred to as the Prime Minister’s package—for employment and skilling, with a total allocation of Rs 2 lakh crore over the next five years. These initiatives are expected to benefit 41 million youth. The current Budget has already allocated Rs 1.48 lakh crore towards education, employment and skilling, marking a 30 per cent increase from the previous allocation of Rs 1.13 lakh crore.

Industry, in fact, gives preference to a student with a B.Voc degree over the one with a general degree.

A B.Voc student gains hands on experience and industry experience by virtue of undergoing internship in every alternate semesters during the three year course. As a result, the B.Voc students have industrial experience of one and half year already gained during internship during the time of recruitment and are aware of the processes carried ou t in industry. The industry doesn't have to spend time and resources to train them and this reduces the burden on them and rather benefits them to have a skill-equipped work force.

(Include a real example of any BSDU student. Thereafter, name some famous companies/employers, esp. from in Jaipur/Rajasthan).

B.Voc .graduates have diverse career opportunities, including:

  • Direct entry into industry roles related to their specialization
  • Start-up ventures
  • Further studies in specialized fields
  • Roles in skill training and education
  • Great chances of Off shore opportunities as Skilled executives are in great demand and are highly paid.

A special Focus: BSDU offers two categories of B. Voc programmes viz. Regular B. Voc degree in which the student gets placed after the completion of the 3 yr course.

The second one is a very special B. Voc programme named as Industry Integrated Programme.

Generally, only after completing graduation, students get placed, but a very exclusive advantage of doing B. Voc.(in few trades like Manufacturing Skills ) from BSDU is that we offer Industry Integrated Programme in which the student gets placed in advance in the same industry where students shall carry on their internship. This means, the student has a guaranteed Job offer with him /her at the time of admission itself. Moreover, this advantage is not merely on papers. Currently around 50 students of BSDU are enrolled in this Industry Integrated B. Voc. Programme.

B.Voc addresses the skill gap by:

  • Aligning curriculum with industry needs
  • Providing practical, hands-on training
  • Developing both technical and soft skills
  • Offering specializations in high-demand sectors such as in Manufacturing, automation, wood working, Hospitality, medical industry, IT and Networking Skills, AC skills, solar installation, electrical skills etc.
