Telecommunications is one of the prime support services needed for rapid growth and modernisation of various sectors of the economy. The Indian telecom services market is estimated to touch $103.90 billion by 2020, growing 10.3% annually from 2015 to 2020, a report by Market Research Store said.
The B.Voc program enables learners to gain expertise in key areas of planning, installations and operations of different kinds of telecom equipment and networks. These include fibre and microwave transmission networks, Passive infrastructure which includes generators, Battery banks, rectifiers and UPS systems essential to run telecom equipment, Different switching systems, Upgradation of hardware and software of various network devices, Fault management and management of key performance indicators (KPIs) on one hand and a comprehensive coverage of essential IOT technologies, current tools and trends on the other. It is structured to provide students with a broad, versatile skillset, coupled with hands-on industry exposure.
Telecommunication (or telecom) professionals are experts in managing data, such as voice and video calls and text, over different modes of communication. They are responsible for the design & installation of the telecommunication equipment and ensuring that the data transmitted over wired or wireless links is of high-quality. The telecom field varies from radio and television to Satellite, computer networks, the internet and optical fibre.
The Telecom personnel handle network protect schemes, network synchronization and bandwidth availability. They oversee the design and maintenance of telephone and broadband communication networks. They have to identify and resolve any issues related to fibre optics and copper cables. The engineer performs proactive maintenance and assists in setting system monitoring, reducing equipment failure and incident response time. They have to develop all documents, such as routing plans, network maps, and disaster recovery.

• Train for multiple skill sets in Optical/Microwave Transmission and Broadband Technologies
• Be eligible to appear in all competitive exams in any government sector like UPSC, Defense, Railways and other PSUs

Advanced Diploma

• Prepare user requirement and operate passive Infrastructure set up
• Plan and set his/her enterprise/agency for FO infrastructure & In-Building Solutions


• Perform in the capacity of an Outside Plant Fiber Installer
• Secure a job as an optical fiber technician/broadband technician Skill Certificate
• Be able to install, test and maintain optical fibers/nodes
• Be able to install, test and maintain broadband networks

There are mainly three areas: planning, projects and operations, wherein a telecom professional can excel according to his/her choice and capability. The job description encompasses the following:
• Design, install & troubleshoot the telecommunication systems.
• Work with the complex network & switching systems.
• Configure networks to ensure smooth transmission of data that fulfils the objective of the organization.
• Oversee new and existing telecom equipment’s, hardware and software upgrades.
• Evaluate technical issues related to computer, server, network, voice and data and resolve it in the shortest possible time.
