Infrastructure and Equipment
Electrical Skill Lab
- Electro Technology Trainer Kit:
This kit is used for the practical demonstration and understanding of fundamental principles/laws of Electricity, ie Ohm’s law, KVL, KCL, Thevenin’s theorem, Norton’s Theorem, power consumption in circuits etc. With the help of this kit a large number of experiments can be conducted by students to enable them get a very clear understanding of the various electrical principles.
- Electrical Machine Trainer Kit:
This kit is used for conduct of various experiments to understand the functioning of DC Generators, DC Motors, three phase Induction motors, Synchronous motors and repulsion motors. By conducting various experiments, the students get a clear understanding of speed, torque, load characteristics, efficiencies, fault diagnosis and repair methodologies/techniques of these machines.
- House Wiring Trainer Kit:
This kit enables clear understanding of house wiring concepts/techniques including use of various items including various lighting fixtures, switches, plugs, sockets, protective devices, earthing and methodology of wiring followed by testing and defect rectification.
- UPS Trainer Kit:
This kit provides clear understanding of UPS, its functioning, loading, unloading and methodology for undertaking defect analysis and testing.
- Fire Alarm Trainer kit:
This kit enables understanding of functioning of the alarm system including testing, defect rectification, functioning of various types of sensors( gas, heat, smoke etc) associated with fire detection and other components of a typical alarm system.
- Antitheft Trainer Kit:
This kit enables students to understand the functioning of the various anti-theft systems including their defect rectification and setting to work. The students are thoroughly exposed to various sensors, which include motion sensors (PIR, Ultrasonic motion sensor), window safety sensors (Diffuse photo sensor, Beam photo sensor, Magnetic read switch), door safety sensors (Electric strike lock, Electromagnetic door lock, Glass break sensor). The kit also has features to have a clear understanding of the functioning of video door phones.
- Transformer Trainer Kit:
This kit is used to clearly explain functioning of both the single phase and three phase transformers. The kit also has provisions to undertake open circuit test, short circuit test, polarity tests and Sumpner’s Test (back to back) on two identical transformers. Post conduct of these experiments, student become very confident to handle any kind of defect and ensure correct use of transformers for various purposes.
- Solar Technology Trainer Kit:
This kit is used for clear understanding of solar energy concepts for electrical discipline students including generation of electricity, power transmission, power conversion, series and parallel connection of solar panels and understanding their I-V characteristics.

Dedicated Electrical House Wiring Lab
The house wiring lab enables the student to independently undertake wiring of a given house, plant or any other electrical installation. As part of the training process, the student makes the electrical layout drawing based on the specific requirements of lights, power points, safety devices, space constraints etc. Based on the drawing the bill of material is prepared and the material is issued to the student from the store and the student is allocated a dedicated wall to undertake the installation. Each student is issued with a trolley having various tools, which will be required for the installation. Post installation, the student undertakes testing, defect rectification and final testing observing the various safety measures and maintaining the highest levels of workmanship. It is evident that once the student undergoes training in this lab, he is fully confident to undertake any type of wiring work with ease and confidence.

Automation and Control Lab
- Open Task PLC Panels
An open task PLC panel is a setup developed for learning different PLC wiring and interconnection of various components. This panel is used for making different open tasks like Installation of PLC, concept of NO, NC and different types of outputs. Selection of an appropriate hardware can also be understood during execution of this project.
- Industrial PLC Trainer Kit with SCADA
With use of Industrial PLC trainer, the students learn about Industrial PLC, SCADA, etc. using simulated building blocks / replaceable static application panels (SAPs), Optional switches. There are 20 static application panels for simulation of different programs, these simulation panels can also be operated by SCADA program.
- Lift Elevator
This is a Table top model of 4 floor elevator with colorful floor overlays, of which three sides are covered in transparent perspex sheets for easy viewing. The working model has all possible controls with use of an industrial PLC. The students get a very clear understanding of all controls possible with a use of an industrial PLC.
- HMI (Schneider Electric)
Human-Machine Interface (HMI) is a user interface or dashboard that connects a person with a machine, system, or device. While the term can technically be applied to any screen that allows a user to interact with a device, HMI is most commonly used in the context of an industrial process. All technical concepts pertaining to HMI are clearly understood by the students with use of this training kit. It is worth noting that all the projects in Automation and Control Lab are executed by the students by undertaking assembly of various components including PLC programming and ensuring their full operational availability, which ensures unambiguous understanding of use of PLCs for various controls and automation of systems.
