Seven Days Training of Assessors Program (TOA) on “Power Distribution Job Roles” was organised by School of Electrical Skills, Bhartiya Skill Development University (BSDU) Jaipur Under the Aegis of Power Sector Skill Council from 16th December, 2019 to 22nd December, 2019. The 42 participants were graduates engineers and experienced diploma holders from different industries and companies of various states of the country came for the Training of Assessors.
At the Inaugural Function, Prof. Achintya Choudhary, Vice Chancellor BSDU and Dr. Somnath Mishra Registrar of the university were present. Prof. Achintya Choudhary motivated and encouraged the participants to take full benefit out of the program and Dr. Somnath Mishra advised the participants to make the Sessions interactive and participative to concrete the basics. Prof. S. K. Jhajharia, Principal School of Electrical Skills, presided over the function. Prof. (Dr.) S. K. Jhajharia was the domain trainer of this 7 days program. However, other many distinguished resource persons as Assessment Skill Trainers for Platform Skills Training were also invited to speak at the Training Sessions to familiarize the participants with various areas and aspect of skilling in Power Distribution Job Roles.
On the first day, Prof. S. K. Jhajharia informed the audience about BSDU, as the only purely skills University in the country and its various activities and programs on providing Skill Diplomas and UG and PG Degrees. This was followed by the talk of Porf. (Dr.) S. K. Jhajharia, who gave a perspective on Objectives of PSSC, Need of Certified Assessors, QP/NOS based Training Delivery and Skill Ecosystem in India, Roles and responsibilities of MSDE, NSDC, PSSC, NSDA, TPs, ABs etc. Later, Dr. Sujil and Prof. S. K. Jhajharia gave a presentation on Power Sector Scenario, power generation – centers/state/private sector, function performed by Generating companies of state level, Electricity Regulations relevant to Power Generation: Central Electricity Authority, Electricity Act 2003. In the afternoon, Dr. Satyendra Singh, Assistant Professor at BSDU delivered a lecture on Erection and Maintenance of Power Distribution Lines, Erection of Pole Mounting Distribution Substation and Components, etc.
On day two, Dr. Ritu Tak, Associate Professor at BSDU, explained the procedure of Repair & Maintenance of Power Distribution Lines & Components, Material Testing Equipment, Line Patrolling Log Sheet, Schedule of Periodical Routine Inspection of Lines, Operation and maintenance of 11/0.433 KV Distribution Substation etc. In the afternoon, there were presentations on Testing & Inspection of the substation equipment, protection and repair of transformers and feeders by Dr. Pancham, Assistant Professor at BSDU.
